Die hard soccer fans need not have withdrawal pangs now that the First Division national champion (Saprissa) has been crowned. Yesterday, the Saprissa Cup international soccer tourney for players under 20 years of age began here.

Yesterday, the Universidad Catolica of Chile beat Victoria of Honduras 2-1, Saprissa of Costa Rica downed Corinthians of Brazil 1-0, Tecos of Mexico bumped San Salvador of El Salvador 1-0, Brujas of Costa Rica dumped dumped Caracas (Venezuela) 2-0, Chivas of Mexico beat C.F. Horrillo of Panama 2-0 and Santos and Herediano, both from Costa Rica, tied 1-1.

Most of the players are from “farm teams” allied with major league soccer clubs in their respective countries. Today, a full agenda of matches begins at 8:30 in the morning and the last match begins at 8 p,m,
