Relatively overshadowed by the Saprissa match, Alajuela nailed down its lead last night with a 2-0 win over Carmelita, despite the red and black“s absence problem that includes veterans Winston Parks (penalties) and Victor Nunez (appendectomy). Kenneth Cunningham and 18-year-old Marco Urena, starting for the first time, scored goals for Alajuela against Carmelita.
The win gives Alajuela a comfortable 25 points, seven more than second-place Brujas. As for Carmelita, they mustered a couple of shots wide of the goal and that was it. Fini. Todo. Kaput.
