In speeches on Sunday, Otton Solís continued to question Oscar Arias, calling him the “ghost” candidate, for not wanting to debate topics in public. Oscar Arias, meanwhile said “ These criticisms don’t affect me. I get too much satisfaction seeing the affection the people give me every day, so I don’t need to go around worrying about criticisms I get from adversaries. If Otton wants to fight, let him go fight by himself.”
During the Solis’ rally Sunday, the PAC announced that candidates for the Assembly would sign a letter promising to resign in the event that they violate the party’s code of ethics. The PAC candidate for Limon, Rafael Madrigal, said “This is a public commitment, whereby we resign our post in advance. We’ll go home if the assembly and internal bodies of the PAC decide that we have violated any codes. We would rather go than form a dissident fraction. It would be immoral to stay, if we have sworn to respect a code of ethics during the campaign, then once we are in power we just do what we want.”
