Victor Morales leaves PUSC, it “Smells of Lilies”
Victor Morales, who failed in his attempt to become the presidential candidate or legislator for PUSC, has gone over to PAC. Otton Solís stated that he was "honored" by the support. Morales was part of the PUSC campaign team until August 13th, when the PUSC convention did not ratify his candidacy which was supported by Toledo.
Ricardo Toledo reacted: "I don’t understand how someone who calls himself a social-christian democrat can go over to a party whose ideology we don’t even know, just because they feel hurt" Lorena Vasquez, PUSC president said "He wanted to be a presidential candidate so that he could negotiate a place in the National Assembly, and since he wasn’t successful he changed parties. That’s called opportunisitic. "
Morales in a press conference on Friday gave this sound bite: "the PUSC smells of lilies". (in Costa Rica it is traditional to have lilies at the wake, or bring them.) He stated that he would not go back to the PUSC, even if Calderon took back the reigns and that he was driven from the party because "values and ethics have been lost".
Also, "When there is a party manipulated by an inner circle who does not believe that the path of ethical rebirth and renovation of principles is not the right path, that they should rest on their laurels, then there is hope."
