Candidates hit the campaign trail hard over the weekend and made plenty of campaign promises and accusations:
- Otton Solís of PAC in Limon "Here we are under a system of permanent noncompliance with our laws. Large parties are receiving large contributions well over the 13 million Colones permitted by law. This is corruption, whoever receives these contributions is corrupt and whoever gives them is corrupt too. There is even an expresident who aspires to re-election, when the Constitution clearly states that re-election is not permitted." Promises: Eliminate corruption, savings of 300,000 million Colones that today are wasted in corruption and inefficiency, and soften standards used by RiTeVe.
- Antonio Álvarez of UPC in Perez Zeledon "The illegal trafficking of human beings will not be necessary in this area when I am elected. We will generate jobs and support small businesses so that no one needs to go to the US for opportunities." Alvarez also promised to promote an airport for the Southern Zone to assist development.
- Libertarian Otto Guevara in PZ and the Southern Zone "I will end the RiTeVe monopoly and the technical inspection. While the government does not designate 100% of the road taxes for work on the roads, nobody should have their car inspected. " Guevara visited San Vito de Coto Brus, Sabalito, Agua Buena, Ciudad Neily, Buenos Aires and Paso Canoas. He promised to lift the area from oblivion and put them on the map again, also to deepen commercial relations with Panama (even eliminating the border) and to get property titles for those who live on the border.
- Oscar Arias of PLN held a "public plaza" in Limon "I am confident that we will get all 3 legislators from Limon, Limon belongs to Liberation." He promised to work with other parties to implement programs, attract investment to Limon - and make it the top tourist attraction in the country, build 4 lane roads, add more police, end police corruption.
