A liter of Super now costs ¢479; Regular ¢446 and diesel ¢318. Lines were apparent at all service stations until midnight yesterday when the price rose.
With this boost, Costa Rica has the second most expensive fuel in Central America per liter of Super: Nicaragua - ¢498, Costa Rica - ¢479, Honduras - ¢463, El Salvador- ¢437, and Guatemala - ¢419.
In dollars per gallon, that would be:
479 colones per liter / 485 colones per US Dollar = $ 0.987 per liter
$ 0.987 per liter x 3.785 liters in one US gallone = $ 3.73 per gallon for super
Diesel would cost $ 2.48 per gallon.
This price at the pump includes approximately 33% in taxes for gasoline.
