Do you know of any other country where this would happen?
Yesterday, the floor session of congress was adjourned due to leaks in the roof during a thunderstorm. Water not only came in drops and dribbles from the ceiling but washed in rivlets down the walls of the august chamber and flooded some deputies’ offices. It was due to the overflowing of the roof drains, according to the daily paper La Nación. Other than ruined paper, the drenching knocked out a TV camera that records the sessions.
Congressional president Francisco Antonio Pacheco, not content to sing, “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,” decided to wait for a better climate. The Legislative Assembly’s building, a picturesque Spanish colonial structure, has suffered for years from structural problems and even once an infestation of mice. In this case, the diameter of the downspouts is too small, causing rainwater to back up in the roof drains and overflow.
