It looked like a successful robbery—the two motorcycle-borne robbers held up two small neighborhood markets in the town of La Union near Tres Rios and sped away. But that was their undoing—speeding.
A policeman saw them whizz past and gave chase, radioing for backup. During the chase the duo collided with one of the cooperating radio patrol cars resulting in multiple leg fractures to one robber and hand and foot injuries of the other, according to the daily paper Al Dia.
They are currently at Calderon Guardia Hospital under guard. They were carrying two pistols, a cell phone stolen from one of the market customers and the money stolen from the markets’ cash registers.
