Florida ICE & Farm, a multinational based in the United States, has bought several businesses of Sabmiller, the distributor in Costa Rica for Pepsi Cola and seveal other lesser known soft drinks, reported the daily Al Dia today.

Florida has a near-monopoly on beer sales in Costa Rica.

This places Florida in a commanding position in the soft drink, beer and bottled water market. The company’s Pilsen, Rock ICE and, above all, Imperial beer brands all saturate the grocers? shelves throughout the country.

Some 350 persons work for Sabmiller, reported Al Dia, but Florida ICE & Farm has so far announced no personnel changes.
