Central Valley, Northern Zone and Caribbean Slope Under Green, Preventive Alert

Heavy rains led the National Emergency Commission (CNE) to issue a green, preventive alert for the Central Valley, Northern Zone and Caribbean slope yesterday, according to the commissionâs spokeswoman Rebecca Madrigal.
The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) yesterday reported that heavy rains will likely continue through the weekend, Madrigal explained.
Green alerts call for citizens to remain vigilant of weather conditions, especially people who live near rivers that could overflow during heavy rains. The Caribbean slopeâs Chirripo River flooded yesterday, Madrigal said, but no houses were affected.
The green alert will remain in effect until there is no longer danger of flooding, Madrigal said.
