U.S. Sub-Secretary of State to Meet with Arias
U.S. Sub-Secretary of State for Latin America Thomas Shannon plans to visit Costa Rica THIS week to meet with President Oscar Arias and other government officials, according to a statement from Casa Presidencial.
Shannon will also meet with U.S. Ambassador Mark Langdale and members of Arias’ cabinet including Minister of the Presidency Rodrigo Arias, Foreign Minister Bruno Stagno and Foreign Trade Minister Marco Ruiz.
Local papers reported Saturday that the Central American Free-Trade Agreement with the United States (CAFTA) will be among topics discussed at the meetings. Costa Rica is the only signatory country that has not ratified the agreement.
