Taxis are planning to strike tommorrow in front of the President’s Residence in protest over the legality of “porters”. These are private cars that do not (in theory) transport members of the general public, only private parties with whom they have signed an agreeement.
The legislative assembly was considering a bill to eliminate this loophole, but a group representing the “porters” was able to convince legislators to keep the bill off of the agenda.
