On Monday, President Abel Pacheco and the Minister of Public Works, Rándall Quirós, announced that the InterAmerican Highway and 2 other routes will be fixed before they leave office in May.  The plan covers 4500 kilometers of highway in 22 separate maintenance contracts. The priority repairs are:

- Interamerican North, the Guanacaste routes.

- Interamerican South, routes to Golfito, Palmar and Paso Canoas.

- Roadways to the ports: Barranca-Caldera y Moín-Limón-Sixaola.

- The Northern Zone, particularly, the roads to Upala, Los Chiles, Guatuso y San Carlos.
