45,000 Vying for Spots in UCR

During this week’s “career fair”, the University of Costa Rica announced that a projected 45,000 students will take the next entrance exam. This includes high school seniors and current students who wish to retake the exam in order to change their major. In recent years only between 6,000 and 7,000 freshman students have been accepted.

Competition is so stiff because the rates are so low:
¢7,120 per credit hour ¢85,440 for 12 or more credits

The University never charges for more than 12 credit hours no matter how many classes you take, so the maximum any Costa Rican student would pay would be about $175 for the semester.
