I haven’t posted because nothing exciting has happened lately. The house is coming along fine. They are making up the time they lost waiting for the permit by working after dark every night. Of cource time is not important to me, but they want to finish in August, like they said.
I have tried to pay my ticket twice now, and it appears that, not only did the policeman lower the fine, but also didn’t put it in the computer. Another spot check got me to blow into a breathalyser, I passed, and they gave me the mouthpiece as a souvenir. Quite friendly really. I only read negative things about the police here, but I guess that’s because people only write the paper when they are mad. Hope my luck holds up.
A belated happy birthday to Canada, and an early happy birthday to the U.S. Canada Day was largely ignored in this country, and certainly in this community. July 4, on the other hand will be celebrated by many bars, even in Puntarenas. Bill and Linda are having a big chili and hot dog supper at Casa San Francisco, and I am looking forward to that. There are a lot of Americans in Puntarenas, and many go to all of Bill and Linda’s parties. They like to celebrate everything.
I took a trip to Tamarindo one day. The countryside in Guanacaste is beautiful. It’s so close to here, and so different. I wish I could have seen it before they cleared much of it for the big cattle ranches. The beach at Tamarindo is beautiful. The town is certainly different from Punta Morales, or even Puntarenas. There appear to be many more foreigners there, than Ticos. One would never have to learn Spanish to live there. Of course, the property is a bit more expensive, too. (Major Understatement)
I will try to include the latest picture of the house, although I don’t always get that part to work.
