We spent our first weekend at our new house. The construction crew went home Friday at noon for their first days off since they started working. We stayed there to make sure none of the tools or material took a walk. We put a tent up in the living room to protect us from insects and bought a foam mattress for comfort. We worked all weekend trimming trees, raking the lot, fixing fences, and burning the wood from the old house. It felt good to do something constructive after almost a month of hard thinking, but not much physical labor.
On Sunday morning we took a half hour break to watch 21 monkeys, 6 with babies on their backs, go through the trees in our back yard. 1 or 2 at a time they crossed through on their way from one bush to another. It was better than watching National Geographic on TV.
Monday morning the boys came back and started right in working again. Yesterday the window guy came and put in the windows. The kitchen and bathroom are basically complete, and painting and stucco began today. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the electrician is coming to wire the place. Juan Carlos told us today the house will be ready for Christmas. We were very excited with that news. Kattia came back on Monday as well, and while she was here we found out how to get the Internet so I should be able to post this blog soon.
