Today I got my first mail. A Christmas card from Canada. It was delivered to the door of my cabina by a very nice mailman on a motorcycle. At home I have to walk down the street to a "Superbox" to pick up my mail. The card was mailed exactly 1 week ago. I had heard many horror stories about the mail here, but my first impression is definitely good. Mail from Toronto to Bracebridge (200 km.) often took longer than that. The addresses are weird here, mine goes something like; from the bar, 100 m. west, 25 m. south, the handmade house on the left, Punta Morales, but they obviously know what they are doing. I also had my first negative experience today. A truck almost ran us over while we were walking, but it didn’t.
The flora and fauna here are so abundant. I need to find some books to identify what is around. One neighbour is very knowledgeable, but I would like to find out about edible plants and herbs for teas in particular and I can’t be asking questions every day. I would also like to know more about the spiders and monkeys in particular.
