The Department of Immigration, Foreign Section, announced today that no services would be offered for three Fridays, April 13, 20 & 27, while much needed improvements are installed.
Earlier this year, The Tico Times weekly newspaper ran an exclusive article outlining the sweeping changes planned by the department’s directorate to correct corruption and a miserable lack of coordination in the bureaucracy. (See past newsfeed.)

Heredia is flying high this year. And so was Puntarenas until they stumbled Sunday, allowing Saprissa to take over their leadership of Group B in the First Division of Costa Rica’s increaingly tight soccer wars.
Poor Puntarenas! They were playing well for the first 30 minutes, even exercising ball control in Heredia’s home stadium. But they were losing steam while Heredia played coolly, not flustered at all. Then, in the second quarter Heredia poured the coal on.
At minute 60, Leandro “Leandrinho” Barrios scored with an ssist from Josef Miso. Then, to put the frosting on the cake, Kenneth Vargas scored with six minutes left on a pass from Leandrinho. Coach Javier Delgado’s team had added three points to their leadership of Group A while knocking off Puntarenas into second place in B.
Meanwhile, Saprissa was downing Liberia 3-1–but with much more difficulty in the first half.
It’s still anyone’s national championship. Stay tuned.
