El Niño to Affect Costa Rica in July 2007

The IMN (Costa Rican Meteorology Institute ) has predicted that the weather phenomenon known as El Niño will affect Costa Rica, but not during the upcoming dry season.  El Niño causes a dryer, hotter dry season in the Central Valley and the Pacific.
According to the IMN, the upcoming El Niño will be mild.

Annual “Marchamo” Collection Starts Today

With an average increase of 9%, the Marchamo will be paid by each of the 830,000 vehicles circulating in Costa Rica.  The INS adjusted the obligatory premium by 8.9% and also partially eliminated the subsidy for buses and motorcycles that was charged to car owners in the past.  A sample amount:

Costa Rica Ranked Among Top 10 Fastest Growing Tourism Markets
