The South Pacific coast of Costa Rica has become so much more accessible since the opening of the Caldera Highway in 2010 which in turn has attracted more interest in property investment and commercial real estate, but mostly those dedicated to the tourism industry like hotels and Bed & Breakfasts for sale.
South Pacific beach real estate and ocean view properties in the Southern region of the country continue to be priced to sell and this is fantastic news for those looking to take their first step to move to our paradisiacal country.

In the past I have written articles and comments regarding the cost of health care in the US and whether we should support the Obama PPACA legislation.
I’ve also discussed the potential of getting some services done outside the US for significant cost savings.
I’ve further pointed out that if Medicare allowed payment for such services, the country would save a tremendous amount on its health care costs.
The Tico Times, in February this year, published an article with the title why is the cost of living in Costa Rica so high. The Easy Times has asked some of the affiliate realtors to comment on this article. This article said things like Costa Rica has the highest inflation rate in Central America, From shopping marts to the gas pump, everything seems to be expensive in Costa Rica. Is there no end in sight for Costa Ricas rising price tag?
Some experts seem to have found the answer: My explanation is the appreciation of the colón, My suspicion is that Costa Rica is so expensive because the price of fuel and the costs to transport the fuel are transferred to the cost of goods and We have one of the highest production costs in the region.

I’m of Dutch origin and moved to Costa Rica 31 years ago and still love every day of it. I’ve seen some hard times, haven’t we all, but I have never regretted that decision. I came here for different reasons than I have now; I wanted to get out of the rat race and now the rat race caught up on me. But I enjoy every day of it. What’s the difference? The 28 years living in Costa Rica have made me wiser and I have realized that paradise doesn’t exist, you make paradise yourself.
Throughout those years, I have always worked hard, first to survive, as I was learning how to live in Costa Rica with a different culture, a different language and a different way of doing business, learning to adjust to all these new things. Soon, I came to appreciate the great weather in this beautiful country, the nature, the easy going people and their acceptance of foreigners amongst others.

A Grand Slam for the East Side of San Jose is the construction of the new Momentum Pinares (Curridabat) Mall, which is already affecting the Curridabat real estate market positively.
Costa Rica Real estate on the east side of San Jose is growing faster than anywhere else in the Central Valley. Shopping is made more accessible to the local and foreign crowd alike by the construction of another shopping mall of high quality, while more and more good quality homes for sale in nice communities are being offered.
The first phase of the new Momentum Pinares complex is now open in Curridabat (across from the Hipermas/Walmart)! Its like a slice of the U.S. air-dropped into Curridabat. This is a sequel to the successful Momentum Lindora on the West side of San Jose. Momentum Pinares is a beautiful, modern, mixed-use commercial complex, with green areas, native trees and an interesting designÂÂ a true architectural delight.

The last couple of years have seen a surge in foreigners living in Grecia. From Europeans to Canadians to of course any ex-pats, Grecia is a very attractive place to retire and live in peace. With a great climate, views from many of the ridges and exceptional shopping and entertainment opportunities, it is no surprise that Grecia is the new hotspot to buy Costa Rica real estate.
Real estate prices in Grecia have remained steady throughout the economic turmoil that we have experienced around the world in the last couple of years. One reason for this is that the prices never really became overpriced as they have in other parts of the country. Even Costa Ricans can see the value in the land in this fertile area. Sugar cane, coffee, and great infrastructure make this area still extremely valuable to locals as well as investors.

Many of our US expats living in Costa Rica might not know that the United States Congress quietly slipped Fatca into a jobs bill last year. This legislation is meant to help the United States government locate overseas assets of American tax cheats.
Between the US government and Costarican government, they’re doing everything they can to keep tabs on everything you do and especially on how much money you earn. Just last year, the Costarican government created the Dimex residency card through which they will be able to control your banking business in Costa Rica.
Of course, those who don’t have anything to hide don’t have to worry about anything, which is the large majority. The New York Times, on the 27th of December published a long article about Fatca with the title “Law to Find Tax Evaders Denounced“.

Cinema Jaco is finally open! Thanks to the investment of almost $1 million by a Grecia originated company, Jaco Beach has opened its doors to a brand new movie theatre and I´m proud to let you know that this now makes Jaco the first and only beach town in Costa Rica with its own cinema with no less than 4 movie screens.
The CitiCinema Jaco has a 316 person capacity and the largest screen can fit up to 150 people and showcase 3D movies. This is great news for movie lovers, no longer do we have to drive an hour to San Jose to benefit from the comforts of an air-conditioned movie theatre and enjoy the latest showings.
